The American International League of Florence began in 1975. Membership at that time was approximately 50 members. Our main purpose has been to make donations to local Florentine charities. Since our inception, we have raised over 438.000.000 lire (220.000 euros) for Florentine charities.
In 1977, the American International League of Florence joined FAWCO. We have worked with FAWCO to make international donations for such causes as Doctors without Borders.
In 1998 we achieved our ONLUS legal status which made us a non-profit organization for social usefulness.
Today our membership stands at 230 members with a diverse mix of nationalities.
